Stanley Patju Presley Profile & Artworks


Stanley Patju Presley was born in the 1940s at Itaratjara, an important site between Watarru and Kalayapiti, on the South Australian side of the Great Victorian Desert.  He is a senior Pitjantjatjara Law man, and also a preacher trained at the Ernabella Mission. Patju resides in both Irrunytju (Wingelina, WA) and Tjuntjuntjara, WA, with his wife Ivy Laidlaw.  His knowledge of geography and traditional Tjukurpa is of high degree. He is known as a strong cultural man who practices inma (traditional singing and dancing), punu traditional carving, and is also an established painter with Spinifex Arts Project.
