Verna Wilson Profile & Artworks
Verna Wilson is a young Pitjantjatjara woman originally from Amata on the APY Lands of South Australia. She spent much of her childhood with her grandmothers in Mutitjulu where they were prominent spokespeople for their communities. Verna has worked as a Mutitjulu Community Ranger for the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and CLC continuing the work of her families helping to protect country and culture. She learnt to paint with her grandmothers in Ernabella and also with prominent artist Rene Kulitja. Verna also helps interpret her culture to visitors in the Maruku Dot Painting workshops and markets. Verna is also a keen participant in Marukus Dot Painting Workshops, sharing her culture with visitors to Uluru through the medium of art.
